Walking Workshops

Centre members with the University of Bedfordshire team at the first walking assessment session

Twenty members attended our first Walking Workshop run at the Centre by a team from the University of Bedfordshire. At the first session, the quality of walking of each member was measured using the University's equipment. Members also completed a 12 item survey looking at the impact their condition is having on their walking. Over the next 3 months there will be periodic measurement to try to understand whether any of the therapies and other exercise sessions we offer can improve the quality of participants' walking.

Once all the data is analysed, it will be shared with members and staff so that actions can be taken to try to improve the quality of walking. There will also be an opportunity to discuss the results with the researchers from the university.

It is great to be working with the University of Bedfordshire on this project, the specialist equipment and expertise that the University brings to the Centre will help us to develop the therapies that we offer to improve the outcomes for our members.

If you’d like to take part in this project. the next assessment workshop will be in early September.
